Leonine Consulting was founded on helping you embody the characteristics of that majestic creature, the lion. Here we sit down with Jaire, to know a bit more about his journey as a consultant.

Q. What inspired you to become an entrepreneur?

Jaire: Well, I suppose, I’ve always been influenced to be an entrepreneur. My grandfather and father were both heavy machine and automotive entrepreneurs. So that kind of spirit and need to do something of your own definitely runs in the family. However, I wouldn’t say that the entrepreneurial spirit has always been there or was particularly strong in me to start. It actually came about through necessity and tragedy that prompted my first business venture.

Following the accidental death of my father, being the oldest of my siblings and most educated I had to act. so my brother and I founded a clean company.

Q. How did you get started?

Jaire: I got started developing ideas for Leonine Consulting with the help of my partner Luke, We wanted a way to convey our experiences as ‘credible messengers’ and the similar messages we had to share about helping others. Though we were different and from different backgrounds the similarities were uncanny enough for us to say, this is a no-brainer.

We decided that at the current time and given our experiences that the best way to do this would be as personal consultants.

Q. What was your biggest startup challenge? What steps did you take to overcome it? What did you learn?

Jaire: One of the hardest things is sorting through all your possible experiences to choose the right niche for your clients. This is can be a very difficult but very rewarding exercise.

Sometimes when something presents itself with great difficulty it’s good to ask for help, and that is what I did. I sought the help of a niche development coach. He helped me to clarify what skills my experiences can offer and how to speak to the right people, not just everyone.

Q. What is the Most Memorable Thing You’ve Done Since you Started your Business?

Jaire: Since we are still in our infancy, there aren’t many instances to draw from. But one of the best is getting affirmations from different people about the advice I’ve given to them prior to embarking on this journey as a personal consultant. This helps remind me that my experiences can and do bring value to others’ lives, and secondly to build confidence.

Q. What is one book you recommend, and why?

Jaire: Meditations by Marcus Aurelius Antoninus. This book is one of the most famous works of stoic philosophy. The lessons from the great Roman emperor are all about self-control, personal regulation, and living a virtuous life. These lessons have been a beacon for me in my most troubling struggles, but also foundational to the values of Leonine Consulting, values like Integrity, courage, community.

Q. What are your top 3 favourite online apps, tools, or resources and what do you love about them?

  • Pandora- It’s the only type of radio I listen to. I often discover new releases here and there are many freebies with partner companies.
  • YouTube- I’m a very curious person, and the catalog of instructional, informative, and educational content is second to none, it’s too easy to go down a rabbit hole of info.
  • Messenger- It's pretty much the main chat/communication app that I use.

Q. In terms of legacy, what is the mark you’d like to leave on the world?

Jaire: I would like to help give people live a life of meaning, a life of impact, and life that facilitates community development. I want to be remembered for trying to push fractured modern society towards a more collaborative and equitable trajectory.

Q. In one sentence, what’s the best advice you’d give to someone just starting out on their entrepreneurial journey?

Jaire: Stay flexible, stay with it, embrace and learn from failures don’t run from them. Adaptation is one of humanity’s greatest skills.
