Here we sit down with Megan, to know a bit more about her journey as a life and business coach.

Q. What inspired you to become an entrepreneur?

Megan: Honestly, apart from my own personal struggles with confidence and boundaries, it sort of fell into my lap over time. Entrepreneurship was always something that felt out of reach for me — like you had to have some lucky break, ground-breaking idea, or cash reserve saved up to be “successful” out on your own. (None of these are true, BTW!)

The longer I spent in the corporate world, the less aligned it felt, and I found myself longing for the time, financial, and location freedom that entrepreneurship granted. I knew I was meant for more and I wanted to make an impact in the world, so I began taking messy, imperfect action towards my dreams and it all just started unfolding.

It’s wild, looking back now — how far you can truly go in just a few short years with the right mindset.

Q. How did you get started?

Megan: Oh, it’s a journey. :)

Before I launched my business in 2019, I was a creative spirit doing *all* the things. I had recently left my job designing and lettering greeting cards for a big name company and was feeling pretty lost about what was next for me. The corporate world had left me frazzled and burnt out — and I knew there had to be more to life than the constant people-pleasing hustle I was used to.

I felt this deeper calling to lead and help people, so I took my creative skills and hand lettering knowledge and built an online lettering course for beginners. It was exhilarating and did well for my first online course, but it didn’t feel like *the* thing that I was searching for.

I realized it wasn’t the lettering that excited me — it was the idea that I was helping people find their voices and learn about themselves through creative exploration. It was from there, I knew I wanted to be a coach.

Q. What was your biggest startup challenge? What steps did you take to overcome it? What did you learn?

Megan: My biggest startup challenge was ME and that fear of failure while trying something new. My inner critic wasn’t shy — let me know how “unqualified” I was to be a little fish pursuing such big dreams. As a recovering perfectionist, I was constantly stuck and spinning my wheels feeling like I had to do everything an exact certain way to be seen as an expert in my field.

Self-awareness was huge for overcoming that. I had to truly get to know and own who I was as a person — not who I felt like I had to be. (This was a huge boundary for me to establish with myself!) Once I was able to do that, it was so much easier to show up authentically and take that messy action… Because there really is no such thing as failure. Only feedback.

Q. What is the Most Memorable Thing You’ve Done Since you Started your Business?

Megan: The most memorable thing I’ve done since I started my business is creating life-changing programs and curriculums like the Badass Boundaries Blueprint (BBB).

I created BBB to help my audience start saying YES to themselves instead of everyone else. My mission is to spread light and lead others towards realizing the magic within them, and boundary issues were something that just kept coming up for them. This program allowed me to reach more people struggling with the same issues.

Since creating BBB, I’ve had the privilege of guiding so many incredible students to having the confidence to say no to things that don’t light them up, knowing how to have those difficult conversations without hurting their relationships, having a clear line between work and life, and prioritizing themselves while standing firm in their decisions.

It’s been an honor to share my real-life experiences with my audience and see the ripple effect of how it resonates with them. Because here’s the thing — boundary setting doesn’t have to be difficult. It’s not selfish to ask for what you need or to communicate your expectations, and when you fully realize and embody that, it’s a game-changer.

Q. What is one book you recommend, and why?

Megan: Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert! Hands down. It’s all about creativity and living beyond fear, and one of my favorite sections of the book is when she dives into all the reasons you may not be pursuing the life of your dreams. I read that part out loud to my clients all the time and it always strikes a chord, because so often WE are the only ones holding ourselves back.

Q. What are your top 3 favourite online apps, tools, or resources and what do you love about them?

Megan: Asana — Where I braindump and organize all of the tasks on my to-do list. I love that when you check something off your Asana, a little creature flies across your screen. The gamification takes it to the next level.

Google Calendar — Where I schedule out my days and weeks in time blocks so I know what I’m working on and when. This keeps me organized, productive, and on track towards my goals.

Instagram — Where the majority of my clients find me! I absolutely love the creative freedom of this platform that allows me to show up authentically as my fun, weird, goofy self while still providing incredible value and content around boundaries, confidence, and creativity for my audience. By showing up as myself, I’m inviting my audience to do the same.

Q. In terms of legacy, what is the mark you’d like to leave on the world?

Megan: When I leave this world, I’ll know that I made a difference in others’ lives by helping them feel comfortable in their own skin and love who they truly are. If I can look back at my time on Earth and see my clients and students setting boundaries, ditching perfectionism and people-pleasing, and unapologetically chasing their dreams, I’ll know my time here was worth it.

Q. In one sentence, what’s the best advice you’d give to someone just starting out on their entrepreneurial journey?

Megan: Consistent messy + imperfect action will ALWAYS beat no action, so give yourself some grace and get after it!
