Here we sit down with Kylie, to know a bit more about her journey as a coach.

Q. What inspired you to become an entrepreneur?

Kylie: I ran across South Africa as part of the MAD2Run team in the format of completing 8 half marathons in a row. It was one of the biggest achievements of my life especially as I had not come from an athletic background. I knew that it was my mindset that had empowered me to get there and I came back eager to share this information with others.

Q. How did you get started?

Kylie: We launched the first iteration of what is now known as the HERO Journal in December 2018. The HERO Journal is a daily journal that through consistent use, helps you rewire your mindset. Since the launch of our first journal, the company has grown and now offers coaching programs to help facilitate a complete life change in the lives of our clients. Our signature program is Unleash Your Hero and has empowered many women to realize and step into their power.

Q. What was your biggest startup challenge? What steps did you take to overcome it? What did you learn?

Kylie: Startup challenges were definitely finances and finding the right suppliers for our journal production. I ended up having to take out personal loans which I was able to do still working incorporate. I learned that as humans we are all resourceful. If you have a dream and you take steps of action towards its actualization every day, the Universe steps in and supports you. I’ve learned to never give up on my dreams, no matter what obstacles get placed in your way. Every challenge is only preparing you for greater success down the road.

Q. What is the Most Memorable Thing You’ve Done Since you Started your Business?

Kylie: Being able to see the lives of our clients transform. I still don’t think I truly understand the magnitude of what we are doing. Receiving messages along the lines of saying “Thank you, you saved my life” is something indescribable. To know that myself and the team are making a huge impact is the most rewarding feeling.

Q. What is one book you recommend, and why?

Kylie: The Alchemist — Paulo Coelho. It teaches us that it’s not about the end destination, but about the journey, we go on to get there. It also teaches us that we can create our own luck. We just have to step out of our comfort zone, trust the process, and know that our current situation is not our final destination, but it is a part of the journey to us getting there.

Q. What are your top 3 favourite online apps, tools, or resources and what do you love about them?

  • ClickUp — Our entire business is run off of ClickUp and having more organization in our business has allowed us to scale and easily integrate new team members.
  • TikTok — It still blows my mind that TikTok received more traffic than Google in 2021 and it is a great resource when used correctly, to create valuable content that will help your business grow.
  • Insight Timer — I meditate daily and this is an incredible platform to have access to a variety of resources.

Q. In terms of legacy, what is the mark you’d like to leave on the world?

Kylie: I want to impact millions of people across the globe to deeply heal. Only hurt people hurt others. If I can help facilitate deep healing in an individual, that then creates a ripple effect into their immediate environment, and so on the ripple goes. It’s to transform the world into being a better, safer place.

Q. In one sentence, what’s the best advice you’d give to someone just starting out on their entrepreneurial journey?

Kylie: Trust your intuition to take action outside of your comfort zone daily.
